When I was born, they lay me down in a crib, with bars!! Whoever thought babies belonged in a crib have another think coming. All day long I looked at Mom and Dad walk in and out of the bedroom, going somewhere in a hurry...I thought there must be more to life! I watched closely. The door would creak open, and someone would come in, and play with me for a little, then leave. Humph. I wanted out! I wanted to go where they went!
So one day, when Papa talked to Mama about traveling on a train to Saskatoon. I had never heard of Saskatoon, but it sounded grand. I wanted to go. He left his suitcase on the floor, and I saw my chance. I crawled along quietly. Carefully I sat up, and pulled myself with all my strength into Papa's suitcase. I curled up into a ball, so as not to be seen.
Papa leaned down, shut the suitcase, lifted it up and off we went! He kissed Mama goodbye, and said, "See you in a month Dear"- Wee, I was free. On the train the conductor asked for Papa's ticket. He reached into the bag, and up I sat. "I'm your ticket, Papa, your ticket to Saskatoon". Everybody laughed.
