The Young Boy
This story takes place in the 1950’s. It is about Jim, and his mum Maria, and his sister Sally, and his dog Bogie.
You can see from his eyes that Jim is eating cookies that are forbidden. The cookies are chocolate chip cookies. He’s got that guilty look on his face! Jim eats them to make himself happy. Maria, Jims’ mother, told him he can’t eat the cookies. If he east them (she thinks) everybody will eat them! Even the dog, Bogie, is waiting to get some handouts! Isn’t he a beautiful dog? He looks at Jim like he’s on of their own. He’s so sweet! Maria is going to have company. If Maria serves cookies to her guests, the dog Bogie will say ‘What about me?’
The Bogie is a young but full grown Golden Labrador Retriever.
Jim and Bogie probably argue sometimes. They argue about something-to-eating! Jim usually wins.
Jim has a sister called Sally. Sally also likes Bogie. Sally is younger than Jim: Jim is 8 and Sally is 5. Sally is just as naughty as Jim! One day Sally took her mother’s ring to wear it and she lost it! When Maria noticed that the ring was missing, she knew it was Sally.
She was very angry. She said: “You never touch my stuff again!” Sally cried when her mother reprimanded her. Sally also ate too many cookies.
