This is Susie. She's sick. She's got a cold, or even the Mumps and she has a fever.
To make her feel better she has books, a toy dog, warm flannel pajamas, and cookies and milk. The lamp shade is tilted so light goes the right way, and there's a doily on the table. There's a picture of a lamb or maybe a dog on the wall.
She has lots of pillows to make her comfortable. There's a doctor's bag at the foot of the bed. He's not in the picture, but he's in the room, looking over a fever chart. Susie's Mom is with him. The doctor tells Susie's Mom, "She'll be OK in a couple of days." The doctor takes his bag back to his office.Time will make her better. When Susie's fever breaks Mom checks it and it's back to normal.
When Susie gets well she'll go back to school, or she'll tell her mother she's not quite well enough to go back to school. So her Mom says, "If you can't go to school you can't go outside to play either."
Susie has a dog - a French Poodle named Pierre. When Susie goes back to school the dog has to stay home. When she gets back to school she'll have lots of homework to make up. But at recess she jumps rope, plays hop scotch and swings on the swings. Her friends are happy to see her and console her.
