“Trouble Coming”
That is fantastic – it’s so cute!
His name is George and he’s sucking his thumb and eating. He’s got his dog Peanut with him. George is eating 50/50 cookies: there’s a little bit of everything in them, because you make them out of whatever you have left over in your kitchen.
He’s got a big glass of juice next to him, but he’s not looking at it. If he’s not careful, he might knock it over and spill it and make a big mess. But he’d clean it up so his momma wouldn’t find out. Or he’d blame it on the dog.
George has sore knees, but he’s thinking about how hungry he is. He’s also thinking about sharing his cookies with Peanut. Peanut likes cookies, too, and boys generally feed their dogs, anyway.
George is six to eight years old, and his parents are not home. If it’s Sunday morning, they could be at church. Or maybe they’re out in their car doing something. George does have siblings, but he’s the oldest of them and his parents left him in charge. He knows how to do it.
Next, George is going to get in trouble. He has a friend named Cookie who is going to come over. They’ll find more sweet stuff to eat together and they’ll probably mess up the whole house. You can lecture and lecture but they will always mess up the house. Of course, they’ll blame it on the dog when his parents get home – that’s what boys always do.
Peanut will get all the blame, even though he had nothing to do with it! But George’s parents will find out and they’ll punish him.
