Ann and Mary are baking pies for a bake sale. This takes place in the school yard in every summer. They are raising money for their church because they need money for Sunday school. There is a church bizarre going on to raise the money.
There is going to be a pie eating contest later in the afternoon when they are finished baking their pies. They will be selling their pies as well. There is a pie competition where tasters vote on which pie is better.
Mary won the taste contest for her delicious pumpkin pie with whipped cream on top. Ann made a cherry pie which came in a close second place.
Both women are good friends and have a great talent for baking pies and cakes. They have always known each other since they were kids and grew up in the same town. They are neighbors and go to the same church. They do not own a bakery but instead like to bake for fun.
They sold 42 pies at the bizarre including: pumpkin, apple, cherry, pecan, lemon, key lime, mince meat, and chocolate cream pie. The best seller was the traditional apple pie made by Ann.
This was a successful event and raised almost $100. 240 people attended this event; All the people had a great time enjoying the summer weather and freshly baked pies. People were pleased to see that the children and parents were involved in church activities.
