What Does it Mean to be a Grown Up?
What does it mean to be a Grown up?
We get to do things now when we didn't have provisions before.
FREEDOM!
Getting your driver's license-oh, yes!
We used to go places that we didn't go before. Lots of dances...and we went went every weekend! Me and my sister were partners.
You have to take responsibility:
-how to drive a car
-how to treat others
-how to care for your children...a WONDERFUL responsibility.
I realized I was a grown up...
...when we started going to dances! Couldn't go before. We had good times!
...when I could go to the movie theater without myparents! I lived in the theater. I loved the movies! From cowboys to...everything! My brother and I went a lot.
...when we went out on Saturdays and Sundays!
We knew we were grown ups when we started dating. It was fun! Best time of your life!
My dating days...my boyfriend lived in Houston and I lived in Brenham and it wasn't too good.
Dating was special to me. We went to concerts at the Municipal Auditorium and would watch my "future husband" on stage. He went to war and I told him to come back soon and...he did. Then the Lord brought us together backstage. My "future husband" called me for a date and we never did stop dating. We were married 10 years.
The best thing about being a grown up is...
-having a boyfriend.
-being an adult and growing.
-driving.
-being able to do the kind of work you were trained to do.
-being responsible for what you do.
-finding my husband of 65 years.
-being married-70 years.
-helping others.
