Wolf and Taffy Are Making Friends
They’re
dogs! It looks like they’re really watching intently. Both windows are down so
they can hang out from the window and both look at each other.
They are two
different kinds of dogs. Taffy is the little guy. Wolf is the big one and has
long hair.
They are friends.
They really smile at each other and are really happy.
They are in
two different cars in the back side windows.
“What are
you doing today?” the one asks.
“Nothin’,”
answers the other.
The cars
they are in are stopped at a red light and the dogs are looking at each
other. There is about one foot between
them. That’s as far as it goes. There is the smell of lots of trees. The smell
of each other – they’re close enough to smell each other. That’s what dogs do.
Before they
were here, they both came from their own homes. Now, they are in two different
cars at the red light. The cars are stopped and have their brakes on. They hear the sound of the traffic behind
them and also birds and squirrels.
Wolf’s owner
says, “Say goodbye! We’ve got to get the groceries.”
Taffy’s
says, “Hurry up. I’m hungry!”
They are
both excited. The owners saw the dogs had a good time and decide to set up a
play date. They schedule which house for the play date and pick a best day and
time.
The decide
to have the play date at Wolf’s house on Thursday at 2 p.m.
The weather
looks really good. You can see daylight. The owner at the house gives the dogs
good treats. The dogs chase balls in the back yard.
“Hi, guy,”
says the one dog. “What do you think we should do today? Are you hungry?”
“Yes, I’m
hungry and thirsty,” answers the other dog.
They both
have their mouths open, almost like they are talking to each other. Someone
gives them a drink.
The dogs
seem really pleased to see each other. You can tell by the look on their faces.
It’s almost like they’re smiling.
Their job is
behaving themselves and going to the bathroom outside.
The dogs
dream about their meal and dream about their girl dogs. Wolf dreams that his
girl dog is like him and likes to play. Taffy dreams that his girl dog is like
him and likes to eat. The girl dogs’ names are Mia and Butch.
The owners
will need to pick a time that Wolf and Taffy get to see their girl dogs. They
pick Thursday at 2 p.m.
At their
play date, all of the dogs play with each other immediately. They’re feeling
very happy and having a ball. Can you imagine the dogs getting together like
that?
It’s sunny
the day of the play date. The dogs smell each other, smell the grass, hear
autos and other dogs.
They play
with their favorite toy – a ball – chasing it back and forth while the adult
tosses it and sees which dog gets it first. The boys get the ball first and
start to play with it.
While they
do that, the girl dog goes around sniffing and finds her own ball and start to
play with it herself.
The girls
say, “You can’t catch as good as we can!”
The boys
say, “We’re better! We’ll try between us and we’ll see who wins.”
They play
ball. The boys and girls verbalize who is best.
“You aren’t
going to win. You are too weak,” say the boys. They figure they are going to
win. The girls won’t have a chance.
The girls
say, “We’re better!” The boys say, “No, we’re better!”
The girls
take off to one of their parent’s houses where there is another dog.
Then, all
four dogs play all together and have a nice time.
