The most beautiful sound in the world to me is that of waves crashing against the shoreline. It is soothing, yet invigorating. It reminds me of all the marine life swimming and living beneath the water. One of the biggest creatures in the world live there, whales. Also, one of the world's most deadly predators, sharks. Sometimes the waves on the ocean can be flat and calming, and sometimes high and mighty. I've sailed in boats when the seas are soothing, and also when waves are crashing onto the bow of the boat and we pound into them. These can be frightening, but having respect for the ocean gets me through them.
I grew up along the eastern coastline of the U.S. and spent many summers at the beach. I was never afraid of the big waves along the shore and would swim in depths well over my 5' stature. I often fall asleep with the sound of the ocean in the background.
I've snorkeled in the waters off the Caribbean, and there is nothing as beautiful as the colorful fish and reefs living beneath the surface. If I could be something other than human, I would want to be a dolphin. They are smart, graceful, and fun to watch as they soar through the water with such confidence.
I could just sit and look out at the ocean for hours
