Stephanie Anderson, DNP, RN

Vice President of Operations

Dr. Stephanie Anderson works closely with organizations and states across the country on  projects to improve the quality of life for people living with serious illness. She has over 30 years  of experience in leading and spearheading programs and projects to provide more holistic care  to people, and in redesigning systems to make innovations available at scale to those individuals  and families who need and benefit from them. Most recently, this has included expanding  access to evidence-based models of care while improving health equity for the medically  underserved, low income, and minority population.

Stephanie has a history of working with programs which focus on communication and  interdisciplinary support to people and their families such as advance care planning and shared  decision making, palliative care and hospice, home care and care management. Stephanie earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Iowa specializing in health  systems administration.

In her role as Executive Director of Respecting Choices (RC), she led the innovative  transformation of all programs to listen to and meet the needs of changing healthcare and  community environments while remaining known as best practice and evidence based. By  leveraging technologies and shifting focus to current customer needs, RC supported frontline  healthcare workers and the people they served during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In previous roles, her palliative care program was awarded Joint Commission Certification and received the Circle of Life award from the American Hospital Association. She led the initiation  of and co-chaired the Iowa Physician Orders for Scope of Treatment (IPOST) movement resulting  in new legislation and statewide implementation. She is past vice president of the Advance Care  Planning–international board of directors.

Stephanie believes innovative care models including community and healthcare organizations,  payers, and policy reform can transform healthcare and should be the top priority to delivering  exceptional whole-person healthcare.
