Welcoming Chris Abbott as New Board Member

Chris Abbott is the founding principal at Transformory in Austin TX, a healthcare consulting firm that partners with physicians, clinics, ACOs, hospitals, integrated healthcare systems, other allied healthcare providers, and managed care and health insurance companies to tackle a range of growth, performance, quality and organizational structure challenges.

Until March 2019, Chris was the Health Plan CEO for UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement in Texas and Oklahoma.  He and his team had overall accountability for growth, quality, customer satisfaction and financial performance for the largest Medicare Advantage marketplace within UnitedHealthcare with over 650,000 members across individual, employer-sponsored and special needs plans.

Chris originally joined UnitedHealthcare in 2002 and served in a number of Medicare-related roles including the UHC Medicare & Retirement health plan CEO for Wisconsin and Michigan.  He also had opportunities to manage and lead a number of other Midwest states during his tenure including Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, Chris spent four years in physician practice management as the executive director of an ophthalmology practice in Southeastern Wisconsin and director of operations and support services with a large multi-specialty, hospital-owned medical group in Milwaukee.  His previous experience includes director of operations for support services at the US Air Force’s second largest medical center in Dayton, OH.

Chris is also a retired United States Air Force Chief Master Sergeant with over 22 years of active-duty service in intelligence, global operations, military diplomacy, health services administration and the Inspector General’s office.

In addition to the professional experiences listed, Chris has served as a board director at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, an advisory council member at Feeding Wisconsin and the board president at Interfaith Older Adults Program in Milwaukee.

With Chris’ vast experience in the Healthcare industry, and his passion for bettering the lives of our elders, he will be a tremendous asset to our team at this exciting stage of organizational growth.
