“A Bad Point Makes a Good Point”
It’s summer – no, fall! She’s got a short-sleeve dress on. He has a short sleeve shirt, no coat. He’s pulling up his pants – maybe it’s cold enough he has something underneath. Her name is Jocelyn. The women doesn’t look like Betty’s mom. They look like “Ma” and “Pa”.
Someone told a joke. Someone’s car broke down OR someone’s car broke up! He’s laughing and holding up his pants – he’s been running! She is anxious and their relationship is beautiful. He was running after his hat. She’s laughing. It’s cold, he’s running. He lifts his pants all the way into his mouth! She’s still laughing. Alice worked with people for 50 years. She knows when couples are laughing! They are comfortable. He is not embarrassed. Neither is she. They like one another – they are standing close. He’s a jokester. She’s laughing her head off.
They are on a farm. It’s gotta be their farm. There is wheat, corn. They are looking for food – green beans and corn. They’re roasting a big piggie. Her apron is ready. She has probably hacked up the pig. That’s a big apron. She’s big enough to handle him. Those fingers are not for marbles. They’ll eat potatoes, corn, corn on the cob and a tossed salad.
This man can do no wrong. He’ll never find another woman to handle him. Everyone is invited to take what they like. Dinner is on. Five to seven people came to dinner – American people, ordinary neighbors. Chances are they live just down the street. Maybe next door.
After dinner is indigestion. They take some bicardium sodium pill. Rosalie would just lay down and just feel good. There’s always one that can’t walk home and needs help. They’ll always get a ride. They’re ready to help.
