Keepers of the Light
It was late spring at the Split Rock Lighthouse in Lake Superior, where the "keeper of the light", Brad Pitt and his wife Sue and daughter Joanne lived. The days were permeated with the peaceful sound of waves crashing along the rocky shore, and the evenings were filled with the sound of fog horns as the great ships made their journey. The sights and sounds often reminded Brad and his family of their homeland in Ireland. Sue was known to the locals as the "old spinster", who had won the powerball many years ago. She filled her days making jewelry, drinking wine, eating chocolate, a climbing the rocks of the cliff. Joanne was especially brilliant. She spent her days playing chess online, drinking champagne, eating lobster, and biking. Though nothing could fulfill her ultimate dream of one day owning a pony. As a family they often went together to dive off the cliff into the water, went sailing, and picked berries together. One day, Sue and Joanne went for a picnic, with the seagulls flying and squawking above, when they heard an odd noise and then a scream. They returned to the lighthouse to find their beloved husband and father, lifeless on the rocks below. Sue was shocked as they had dived off that cliff many times before. Immediately, Joanne knew what had happened and told her mother that he heard the "call of the siren" and followed her to his death. Despite her feelings, Sue was a resilient and resourceful woman who was determined to make the best out of the situation. She played her favorite song by Bruno Mars, "Uptown Funk", and her and Joanne danced the night away. The next day, to their surprise, the lighthouse was spotlessly clean. A sense of dread fell upon Sue and Joanne as they realized that neither of them were responsible for this. All of the sudden, a wind began to blow and that is when they realized that the lighthouse was now haunted with Brad's ghost, who in his effort to clean, was begging forgiveness from Sue and Joanne. Deep down, Sue just wanted her husband back, but she knew that was just a dream. Although she forgave him, she realized that she would be forever haunted by Brad's ghost. She decided they would return to a lighthouse in Ireland with George Clooney. Joanne was overwhelmed with grief and did not want to leave her father's ghost and the place she had grown to love, but Sue promised her a pony of her very own. They realized they were the true "keepers of the light" and with that promise, the two jetted off to their homeland of Ireland to spend their days with George Clooney.
