Two dogs in similar cars like each other. They’re going for a ride. The dogs are cousins. They both live in town. Their names are Harold and Dolly. Too bad the light is going to turn green. Cars, traffic, greeting sounds, panting, sniffing.
“What kind of care are you riding in,” asked Dolly.
“I don’t know, I have to ask my master. What about you?” asked Harold.
“Same thing.”
“We’re going to the park.”
“Boy, you smell good,” said Harold.
“I just had a bath,” said Dolly.
“Do you love your master?”
“No, sometimes he’s mean to me,” she said. “I’ll talk to you about that later. Will you be going to the dog show?”
“Of course,” said Harold, “I’m the star. I’m going to win first prize.”
“Over my dead body,” said Dolly.
“Well, you do look pretty.”
“Flattery will get you nowhere.”
“Hasta la vista, baby,” said Harold. “See you at the competition.”
“If you win, I will never want to see you again.”
“Give my regards to your mom and dad,” said Dolly.
