It was a crisp, Fall day, in Memphis TN. The year was 1972. Little Bobbie and his friends met after school as usual, like they did everyday after they were dismissed.
Each day the boys would hold a friendly game to occupy their time. Bobbie was smaller than all the other boys, and didn't have as much talent as them either.
Even though Bobbie would practice everyday, he could never hit the ball.
Each boy took a turn, and finally it was Bobbie's turn.
Bobbie nervously, walked up to the plate and took the bat, that was a little to heavy for him.
He positioned himself behind the plate, anchored the bat behind him, watched for the ball, and "CRACK!" Bobbie hit the ball!
His friends cheered him on, as Bobbie ran to each plate. One of the boys yelled to him, "GO TO HOME PLATE!!!!"
Bobbie ran as fast as he could to the home plate, he slid in just as the catcher caught the ball.
He heard one of the boys yell "SAFE!"
All the boys carried Bobbie on their shoulders as they cheered all the way to the ice cream shop down the road.
