The Big Wave- from a resident and caregiver at The Mather Evanston
Facilitated By Casey Pax
August 22, 2022
"Water makes me think if being formless and free. To me it represents change, persistance and power. I think about images I ahve seen of rivers carving canyons in rock, roacks and glass being smoothed to pebbles or drips forming holes through rock tiself. If you wait long enough and with enough continued effort you can make an impact. Water is life: be like water - adapt"
We then moved into a period of movement where I asked the residnet and caregiver to show me a movment that they felt represented water. The residnet lifted her arms over her head then slowly spead them out as myslef and her caregiver echoed her movmeent. We talke dabout how she is a "big wave" and then she slowly lowered her arms and stated "I am now flowing down". The movement was repeated by us as a group a couple more times and we added a "wooshing" sound to it.
