The Dancing Queen
A story by Betty, Joan, Nancy, Margo, Gwladys and Eve
Headwell House, January 2024
On the street with a band behind
That’s all I can think of
I wish I had glasses to see I used to have some
She’s dressed like a teenager; she has a bandage on her foot.
Can I have one on mine?
Her name is Jeanie, she’s boogying
How old is she?
I would say 70 anyway
Shaking her hips like that? At 70?
Shimmying
I could shimmy if I try.
So would I
I don’t know how to shimmy
🎵I wish I could shimmy like my sister Kate
Moves like jelly on a plate 🎵
She’s going shopping after this
I don’t care for shopping.
She’s going to buy a longer a skirt-it should be in the photograph
Pussy Cat Pussy cat where have you been?
I’ve been up to London to visit the Queen
She’s going to end up broke
She’d have to find her bag and her purse
I wish I could find mine
Or else not much shopping the day!
She’s going to go to sleep now I think
Or have a wander aboot!
The End
